Happy Easter

April 10th, 2009

Hi everybody

This weekI read in the ‘people management’ magazine an article that I would like to bring to your attention.

In the article Lucy Phillips reminds us that companies may put their organisations at risk by repeating the mistakes of the last recession.  In a report, carried out by Boston Consulting Group and the European Association for People Management it states that employers cutting experienced staff and new trainees risked creating skill shortages in five to ten years as happened  as a result of the last recession.  When the upturn happens and it will happen companies do need to be ready to perform effectively and demonstrate to their clients that they can manage their business and have the expertise in house to do so.

Of course Star Recruit is always here to help with star candidates available for contract, shor t term and flexible contracts.

Happy Easter to everybody relax, take it easy enjoy our nice weather here in the south east, today is beautiful in Wexford.

Tips for job seekers

December 12th, 2008

Hi all

As we approach the Christmas holidays it’s a good time to review your career to date.  Many of us have almost 2 weeks holidays at this time, so why not allocate some of that time to look back at your working year 2008.  Write down any achievements you accomplished, for example, did you deliver a project on time? Were you asked to represent your company at an external event?  Sometimes we overlook or forget our minor ‘wins’ and only focus on major promotions but when you are updating your c.v. and deciding to submit it for a new role you would really like to get, one of your tasks in your present role might be just what the employer is looking for.

If you have never read any edition of the ‘What Color is your Parachute? by Richard Nelson Bolles the 2009 edition is out now.  Its subtitle is ‘Job-Hunting in Hard Times’ unfortunately that title makes sense at the moment.

Until next week

Have a good weekend

Good news week for Wexford as Coca-Cola starts construction of Wexford plant

December 2nd, 2008

Hi all,

On Sunday November 30th, Taoiseach Brian Cowen and Coca-Cola Company President and Chief Executive Muhtar Kent officially marked the beginning of the construction of Coca-Cola’s new flavour manufacturing and innovation facility on the 41 acre site in the IDA Business and Technology Park in Wexford.  The type of jobs that will be created will be in the areas of engineering, manufacturing and advanced process development.  The company expect to create 60 jobs in a year and 100 after 5 years.

This is surely a glimmer of light and a very positive story for Wexford,   Taoiseach Brian Cowen said “This €300 million investment will lead to job creation, a substantial contribution to the regional economy and is a tremendous addition to our manufacturing and technology industry base.  We are delighted to welcome the company to Wexford and look forward to a long and fruitful relationship with Coca-Cola here.”

And so say all of us in Wexford!
